NAME & LOCATION:

1.	The name of the Society is "The Institute of Health Systems.

2.	The Registered Office of the Society shall be situated in: HACA Bhavan, Hyderabad - 500 004 Andhra Pradesh. India

DEFINITIONS: In these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires:

1.	"The Institute" means the "Institute of Health Systems".

2.	"Board of Governors" ,"The General Body",and "The Executive Council" mean the respective bodies of Institute;

3.	"Charter member", "Member", "Institutional member", "Life member", "Institutional life member", "Honorary member" and " Associate Member" mean the respective members of the Institute, admitted as such under these Rules.

4.	"Prescribed" means prescribed by ordinance or regulations and where there appears to be a difference between the provisions of the two on any matter or issue, the provisions of the ordinance.

CHARTER MEMBERS :

The following shall be the Charter members of the institute:

a.	The first members of the institute subscribing to the memorandum of association of the institute, subject to satisfaction of financial obligations of a member for availment of privileges under rule 24 ;

b.	A member or person eligible to become a member, and having been invited by the board of governors to be a charter member for a specified period or three years whichever is more, has accepted such invitation, and has satisfied his financial obligation under rule 24 ;

c.	Provided that, if they so decide, the Central Government and the Government of the State within whose jurisdiction the registered office of the institute is situated, shall be deemed to be charter members and be represented by their respective ministries/departments of health or their nominee as the case may be;

d.	Provided further that the total number of charter members at any point of time shall not exceed

Before inviting any person to be a charter member, the board of governors shall satisfy that:

a.	The person/institution is sponsored by atleast two of the existing charter members;

b.	The person has consistently evinced interest and demonstrated commitment towards fostering, promotion or achievement of objectives of the institute either independently or through an association with the institute

c.	In case of an institution, it's objectives are complementary to the objectives of the institute and the institution has committed it's resources in part or full, towards performance of the complementary role or achievement of the objectives.
	AND

d.	Such a person or institution has the potentiality to significantly contribute towards development of the institute and advancement of it's objectives.
