The library has a collection of books, journals and periodicals mostly in the area of health economics, health informatics, community health, quality assurance in health, health services research, health policy studies, vital and health statistics. A computerised catalogue is available for easy retrieval. The library has reading room and the Library is fully Air-Conditioned.
Internet terminals are also available in the library with 64 Kbps Leased Line for more enhanced literature search.
In addition IHS has an institutional membership of the British library and the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN).  The British library is within walking distance from IHS.
IHS uses the MEDLARS service provided by the National Informatics Centre, Hyderabad for online searches of medical literature bibliographic databases. The NIC GISTNIC and MEDLARS service points are at a walking distance.
The library is run by trained staff who assist users in making maximum use of the library and act as intermediaries in obtaining information elsewhere.
Visitors just using the library for a short time may read journals only  in the library, but may not borrow. They have no access to IHS research papers, report series, publications and all other books.
